if x402 is the standard for ai agent payment layers, then ERC-8004 can be considered the standard for ai agent identity verification / reputation. ERC-8004 is still under discussion, but since ERC standards typically see on-chain experimentation before final confirmation, tracking actual adoption is crucial.
how can we track real adoption? the easiest way is through event data parsing. ERC-8004 starts with two events: (1) MetadataSet and (2) Registered. for the topic0 value of Registered, you can directly use the yellow paper formula - keccak256("Registered(uint256,string,address)")
looking at the data, it appears to be just getting started. what's interesting is that @AbstractChain and @base consistently show impressive speed when it comes to these narrative on ethereum. and recently, @BNBCHAIN is also showing rapid movement in the ai ecosystem. kudos to strong devrel evm team ;)
i still believe onchain ai reputation has a long way to go. but i hope to see more data-driven discussions on this topic, which is why i'm building another dashboard today.
